The figure sits in a traditional portrait pose, while sunflowers grow from beneath the shirt and spread across the entire head, completely concealing the face. I wanted to create a dreamlike and melancholic atmosphere with something slightly unsettling beneath its beauty.
The flowers appear to grow from within the figure, blurring the boundary between the human body and nature. By completely obscuring the face, the identity of the subject disappears, leaving the viewer to create their own interpretation of the figure.
