One man has been painted in a bathtub multiple times throughout art history, Marat. However, he is usually shown from the side: his nudity sheltered from the viewer. I painted a new Marat, one from a top view. Many women have been painted in bathtubs, bathing or in water, most of them nude and sexualized. Bathing women seem to be overrepresented and overexposed, whereas the only man painted in a bathtub multiple times is never visibly naked. I want to change that, so I painted Marat from a different point of view. I believe the world needs a new Marat.
