Feral populations of rose-ringed parakeets have established themselves across Europe over the last few decades, initially brought from India as pets. As their populations increased, concerns arose about their destructiveness and their tendency to outcompete native birds. While studies in the Netherlands have shown their negative impacts to be minimal, public sentiment remains mixed.
