Nieuwsgierigheid naast rust.

There is no black in this painting.
The underpainting is built up from dioxazine and Payne's grey, on a base of purple, grey and white. Where the dark seems deepest, there is no black pigment, only those two colours together. That gives the layers of colour on top a different depth, shifting with the warmth or coolness of the light.
Perla is an Andalusian mare, pearl white with warm beige tones, pink skin around the nose and eyes, and blue eyes. Her coat catches the light almost like velvet.
A young horse steps out of the dark. Searching, vulnerable, full of promise. The contrast is hard, the shadow cold, blue and purple. The eye clear, the coat full of movement. Curiosity next to calm.
